The worst performers of the session were Cielo SA (SA:), which fell 2.44% or 0.58 points to trade at 23.20 at the close. Lojas Renner SA (SA:) declined 2.17% or 0.59 points to end at 26.55 and Tim Participacoes SA (SA:) was down 1.90% or 0.19 points to 9.81.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 218 to 174 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.64% or 1.33 to 37.85.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.12% or 1.50 to $ 1266.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.38% or 0.19 to hit $ 49.99 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.35% or 1.75 to trade at $ 131.22 .
USD/BRL was up 0.10% to 3.2637, while EUR/BRL rose 0.01% to 3.6457.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 97.33.
